"The UN agreement against plastic waste has failed" — the news that was everywhere in mid-August 2025. In Geneva, around 180 countries were unable to agree on a far-reaching treaty to curb plastic pollution worldwide. A bitter setback for the environment and nature. The European Union, however, is already a step ahead. Since February 2025, the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) has been in force in Europe. This PPWR is a central component of the EU's Green Deal strategy, which aims to ensure that packaging is not only functional in the future, but also sustainable and resource-efficient.

"Now, thanks to our new sustainable packaging, we're enabling the food industry to package goods in a way that largely eliminates the need for plastics.
