Packaging in Paper
Kallfass packaging machines also package in paper.
Solutions for the shipping and manufacturing industries. Whether packaging with two paper webs or a single paper web with a folding unit, Kallfass packaging machines produce shapely paper bags with stable, load-bearing seals. Additional options such as tear-open aids, returnability, and resealability round out the range of functions.
With one or two rolls of flat paper
Packaging in paper is on trend — and Kallfass already has the right solutions in its program. For almost 60 years, Kallfass has offered state-of-the-art packaging systems for primary and secondary packaging that run reliably around the clock.
What has applied to film packaging for decades now also applies to paper as a packaging material: Kallfass packaging machines can reliably process sealable papers and films into pouches — without separate systems, without extensive conversion work. Companies that need to package in film today and paper tomorrow don't need a second machine infrastructure.
Paper is a renewable raw material that can be fed directly into the established recycling economy via waste paper — with guaranteed high recycling rates and no additional sorting effort for the end consumer. Compared to plastic films, it produces no plastic waste and meets the growing regulatory requirements for sustainable packaging solutions.
Kallfass actively contributes its decades of expertise in packaging technology to the development of future-proof packaging papers — with a clear goal: the perfect pack in paper.

Paper packaging with one roll: the hybrid Universa series
At Kallfass, hybrid technology means: a side sealing machine that packages either in film or in sealable paper — without retooling the sealing units. Switching materials comes down to the essentials: film off, paper on — the packaging process continues without a production stop. No changing cross- and side-sealing tools, no downtime. For companies with flexible packaging requirements, this represents a significant efficiency gain.
At the heart of the technology is a newly developed folding unit that shapes flat material from the roll into a half-tube. This is guided over the form shoulder into the side sealing machine, where the product is fully wrapped and sealed on three sides. The result is attractively shaped paper packaging with stable seams — visually appealing, high-quality to the touch, and equally suited for shipping and for presentation.
The hybrid Universa series is particularly designed for small to medium-sized products and shows its strengths especially in e-commerce and mail order retail. Textiles, cartons, boxes, toys, and books can be packaged just as efficiently as in film — as a sustainable alternative with full all-around enclosure and no compromises on throughput or quality.
Paper packaging with two rolls: Servo Packer and Logi Wrap Paper
In the two-roll variant, two paper webs enclose the product from above and below — the result is stable pouches or banderoles with load-bearing seams on both sides and a symmetrical packaging appearance.
Processing takes place on the same proven machines used for film packaging: the dual-side sealing machines of the Servo Packer series reliably process the sealable papers available on the market and deliver convincing packaging results for small to large, as well as light to medium-weight, products.
Specifically for e-commerce, Kallfass has developed the Logi Wrap Paper — a fully automatic packaging machine with automatic bag size adjustment. The system detects the product dimensions and automatically adjusts the bag size to match each product. This eliminates format changeovers, reduces paper consumption to the necessary minimum, and makes the Logi Wrap Paper an efficient solution for varying product sizes in mail order retail.

FAQs on packaging in paper
What is the difference between one-roll and two-roll paper packaging?
In the one-roll variant, a single paper web is shaped into a half-tube via a folding unit and sealed on three sides. The two-roll variant uses two paper webs that enclose the product from above and below, creating a
What is meant by hybrid technology in the Universa series?
Hybrid technology refers to the ability of these side sealing machines to process either film or sealable paper as packaging material — without retooling the sealing units. Only the material is changed, and the machine continues running without a production stop.
What is the Logi Wrap Paper and who is it suitable for?
The Logi Wrap Paper is a fully automatic packaging machine specifically for e-commerce that automatically adjusts the bag size to the product. It is particularly suitable for companies with varying product sizes in mail order retail, where format changeovers cost time and efficient paper consumption is economically relevant.
Which Kallfass packaging machines can process paper?
The dual-side sealing machines of the Servo Packer series, the banderoling machines of the Super Wrap series, and the Logi Wrap Paper are designed to process sealable paper with two rolls. For the one-roll variant, the hybrid Universa series enables packaging in paper on a side sealing machine without a tool change.
What materials can be processed?
The machines process sealable papers from the roll as well as films made from fossil or renewable raw materials. The material must have sufficient sealing capability to ensure stable, load-bearing seams. Kallfass provides individual advice on which types of paper and film are suitable for each specific application.
Is paper packaging a genuinely sustainable alternative to film packaging?
Yes. Paper is a renewable raw material that can be fed directly into the established recycling economy via waste paper — recyclable as a pure material stream, with guaranteed high recycling rates and no additional sorting effort. Compared to plastic films, paper produces significantly less plastic waste and meets the growing regulatory requirements for sustainable packaging solutions in e-commerce and mail order retail.
What products and industries is paper packaging suitable for?
The technology is particularly suitable for small to medium-sized, light to medium-weight products in e-commerce and mail order retail: textiles, books, toys, cartons, and boxes that require full all-around enclosure or a stable banderole.
